Christmas Cleaning

For those of you that read yesterday's post you are all awaiting this special workout. It did not require a gym or running shoes, but it did require total body strength. Yes, I cleaned my room.

It was much needed and I feel so decluttered (not sure that is a word). When it comes to everything BUT my room I am a pretty organized person. To my defense I have always been gipped of closet space, so therefore my stuff just overflows all over the place.

It was nice to get rid of a bunch of for lack of a better word "crap" that has just piled up over the years. Textbooks from freshmen year, random junk, you name it I got rid of it. I even dusted! I think my problem was that every other time I tried to clean my room I never got rid of stuff and as a result when I "cleaned" it never felt clean because the "stuff" just continued to pile up.

After a good 4 hours my room looked like new. Now the hardest part will be to keep it this way. It was a Christmas gift to myself, but mostly my mom! Haha

Moving on to my actual fun workout. This morning I debuted my Christmas/New Years Spin Profile! Before I even became a certified spin instructor, I had a vision that if I ever did get certified I would have to make a fun Christmas profile. Like everything else I do I was a bit nervous and hoped the class would like it. As a person who takes spin herself, I know we can be very critical sometimes. One bad song and consider yourself finished.

Check it out:

Hopefully you can see the songs, but if not you still have one more opportunity to come and take the class when I cover for another instructor next week. :)

I could tell the class was enjoying when they began singing Ella Fitzgerald's "Sleigh Ride" during cool down.

After class a pleasant surprise came from my regulars:

So generous of them! It is nice to feel appreciated and to be acknowledged of the effort I put in each week to my profiles. I am so glad I became certified this past summer and am able to do something I love!

Christmas Movie of The Day: Home Alone 2

I love this classic even though it was the reason why I was afraid of NYC most of my childhood. Thank you Harry & Marv.

Christmas Song of The Day: Let it Snow! Ella Fitzgerald

A jazzy take on a classic! Love the whole album.

It's The Most Wonderful Time of The Year!

I AM DONE WITH FINALS!!! No more of this:

And it feels SO good. I have been free since yesterday at 5pm. My first final was a breeze, the second took me the whole 2 hours. Algebra 2/Trig without a calculator. I like math, but not 50 questions at once. It felt good to be done:

I am looking forward to this vacation and taking in some deep yoga breaths until student teaching. In fact, maybe I will actually try and make it a point to get to yoga more often.

There has been lots of celebrating so I try to step it up in the gym this time of the year especially with cardio. The treadmill has been my best friend at the gym! With that said hopefully Santa will take that into consideration.

Backtracking to Sunday, I was able to get a nice little break from studying for a dinner date with my best friend aka "twin" Tanya! We exchanged Christmas gifts too. Talk about a best friend!

I think the coffee tastes better in the Elf mug.

Speaking of elves, I have been making it a point to stick to this:

Can you believe we are a week away from Christmas Eve?! I LOVE Christmastime, but I wish there was about another 5-7 days added to the month before Christmas. It just comes and goes so fast.

Christmas Movie of The Day: The Santa Clause

Christmas Song of The Day: Cold December Night - Michael Buble
I love the classic songs, but also love some of the new songs artists are coming out with. How many ways can you sing Santa Claus is Coming to Town?

Stay tuned for tomorrow to hear about the interesting "workout" I had. Trust me, it was WAY overdue. Any guesses??

Snowy Saturday

Yesterday's snowy weather allowed for some good quality studying in preparation for my remaining two finals on Monday. I didn't say it would help, but we shall see.

After my morning gym session I hit the books... I was extremely disappointed that there was nothing good on ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas. Toy Story and The Little Mermaid? Really? Since when are these Christmas movies?

Mom asked that "we" go out and shovel...

I went out and cleared the driveway. A little shoveling burned some extra calories so I can't complain, plus it was almost 3pm which meant one thing. Yep.

NOTHING will stop me.

I am going to be so upset when there is no more Christmas Blend or Red Cups. Enjoy it while it lasts folks.

Dinner was a gluten free 3 bean chili... perfect for the weather!

After some more studying and rewriting all of my notes and doing too many math problems I was glad too see one of my favorite movies were on TV!!

Still not Christmas, but I still love it. I enjoyed with bar #2 for dessert. :)

Well by tomorrow at 5:30 I will be on WINTER BREAK!

Christmas Song of the Day:
Merry Christmas Happy Holidays - NSYNC

Christmas Movie of the Day:

I'm Back

                           Yay!

I know I know it's been TOO long. You can blame all things school related. I really needed to buckle down and focus the last two weeks of the semester. I even stopped playing Words with Friends temporarily.

I am so close to being done. I am thrilled yet in disbelief because I only have one semester left! And it is student teaching! Ahh! But there will be plenty more freaking out posts about that later. For now lets do a quick recap on what's been going on...

Last we spoke my methods unit was due. Happy to say I got an A on the assignment... WOO. See, I don't mind putting in the effort and stressing when you get a grade afterward that makes it all worth it.

Thanksgiving was fun!!! Anyone see me?

COLD it was, but it was so worth it!

Massage on the go came to my school, another reason why I love SJC.. free massages!

I've tried a couple of new workouts over the past few weeks. I have felt sore in places I never felt sore before. I found this treadmill workout from Lauren Conrad...

This week I tried a new Boot Camp class followed by a much needed Yoga. I loved that it was snowing out during the Yoga class.. it gave it all the more Christmas/Zen feel. And we all know Kim loves Christmas.

Yesterday I got to attend another event with my pal Santa at JFK. 4,000 children from all over the city were brought to the airport and Santa and his elves arrived via a Delta jet. A fun day!

I have a new sister, Trixie...

Overall I just have been really enjoying my favorite time of the year. Lots of exciting stuff despite some hard finals... but I am happy to say I write to you as I just completed 2 finals today and they went better than expected. 3 classes down and my last 2 finals for methods on Monday.

Looking forward to getting back into posting more and including a new section for each post.. "Some of Kim's Favorite Things"

Thanksgiving Round 1

One of my favorite days of the year have come and gone. Thanksgiving round 1! Overall it went well, except for a few blood sugar issues. :( Just a typical day for a T1D.

I made sure to get to the gym early for an exceptionally good workout. Spin class followed by 20 mins on the treadmill, some abs and plyometric moves to give my heart rate one last spike. I'd say it was pretty successful.

Off to Bare Naked Bakery to pick up some last minute goodies. The block and a half walk to the bakery from my parking spot did me some good!

At 3 everyone started to arrive! So many appetizers. Yikes!

Bummer for me was my blood began to drop just as these went out. So I overdid it a little and then was high by dinner.
In the past I have had an issue with covering too much for all of the goods then dropping very quickly right after dinner. This would cause me to just eat and eat because of my fear of going too low. Then hours later... BAM hello 300 and something.

Lets just say A LOT of testing was done yesterday. I have to get through my head that this does not happen everyday so I should not beat myself up about it. I was glad I was able to wake up at a reasonable number (172) considering all of the goodies. I was able to have another great workout. I even got through the spin class I covered today which I was nervous of taking on because I was foreshadowing and preparing for any "issues."

Check out some more pics from last night...

It even began snowing! I am so excited I love this time of the year. :)

Anyway it is back to my unit for methods. Almost there... So tedious!
Hope you are keeping warm. A week ago we were in what felt like spring, and now we are in the dead of winter.
